Real life Trimet action via Trimet bus drivers and Trimet communications center | HR202

+ this dispatch communication more about the bus confusion 5869 had last week. Geez! Dispatchers are a bunch of stuck up snobs thinking that they know how to do a bus driver's run better than the bus driver themselves. In this situation, dispatch screwed up and the bus driver did the right thing, but dispatch wants to twist it as that said bus driver was completely and utterly wrong--when he wasn't.

(Updated) Under pressure from riders, TriMet promises to consider longer transfer times
Although the board voted unanimously to look at the feasibility of expanded transfer times, the vote is far from an endorsement. With the economy and its budget still teetering, TriMet considers the idea an epic policy shift that could cost more than it's worth.

Portland bus riders getting cranky
Can't say as we blame them: A once-proud bus system has been chopped up and decimated so that TriMet can become a rail company. This looks good in The New York Times and makes life easier for Earl Blumenauer when Neil calls.
But the folks who ride public transit on rubber tires are starting to fight back. It will be a long, losing battle, of course. Go by streetcar!
The whole mess in Southwest last night could've been avoided
| Just a few of the deadly weapons the police found in Loxley's apartment. |
Apparently, posing a clear threat to the public's safety is not a crime and they couldn't even take him into custody to protect innocent civilians. Then why are people who drink and go nutso (or not, but they get caught anyways) in public who get arrested for public intoxication? It's legal (after one is 21) to drink, so why are people getting arrested for it? Humm....they must be a threat to public safety and that is why they get arrested. Yes, that would make sense.
This could've been quite serious, but the cops brushed him off as if the earlier incidents were nothing when it was far from so and ignored clear warning signs. What would've happened if this crazy gunman had killed/injured someone or some people? That wouldn't be nothing. They were just lucky nobody got hurt or killed last night or else the would have big problems on their hands.
A Nation of Paranoia
- Washington Post: Mass. man accused of plotting to hit Pentagon and Capitol with drone aircraft
- A Perspective: Massachusetts drone terrorist
The catch here is that the FBI was in on it all along. More of those undercover agents who decide they're going to find someone with a grudge and exploit them to turn them into a supposed terrorist by giving them everything they need to do what they want (aka bomb something) and then playing the hero role of 'stopping them just in time'.
Sound familiar? You would be right: last winter here in Portland we had the tree lighting 'terrorist', then there was the D.C. Subway bombers, plus the NY Subway bomb plot, and the Chicago Sears Tower plot. And there are dozens more 'plots' exactly like that which stem and were led from an FBI assist
Every. Single. One. of those plots the FBI was in on. Every single one. Would there have even been a threat from these supposed terrorists if the FBI hadn't been in on it? Could the FBI be fomenting terrorism? It seems clear that they are--I mean look at all those supposed 'bombing plots'. Would they even exist had the FBI not egged the subjects into going forward to attempt to bomb one place or another?
Is the FBI just creating crimes to solve crimes so they can claim a victory in the war on terror or do we really simply live in a nation of paranoia where the Government doesn't even trust their citizens? Or is it both?
TriMet to study OPAL's Campaign for a Fair Transfer
It's easy for transit agencies to be caught up in the dreaded death spiral; but reversing such spirals and driving demand often requires investments to be made. TriMet is willing to make such investments for expansion of its rail system. It should be equally willing, and not so quick to plead poverty, to keep the core of its customer base happy--and to treat them like customers instead of like hostages.
