You know what we're tired of hearing?
"Drunk driving by our officers won't be tolerated. But remember, police work is very stressful."
Chief Reese, really. That's enough of that last bit. Lots of jobs are extremely stressful. But you don't drive drunk -- ever. Stop making excuses for your out-of-control subordinates. Shape them up or step down.
In fact, we'd like to see a random breathalyzer test here and there during shift hours on Portland's finest. Bet they wouldn't all pass.
MAX AND WES DID AMAZING LAST MONTH!...bus did okay
The August Ridership Numbers are in.
Naturally, you have the beginning of the news release stating that MAX and WES were astounding in August and for a little twist this time, TriMet put in the bus ridership went up a little. Of course.
Let's look at the real numbers. How did MAX, WES, and bus do this August?
Bus: 1,077,200 weekly trips
MAX: 846,000 weekly trips
WES: 8,300
THESE numbers show the real story: Bus continues to have the most riders of the system, MAX has 231,200 less trips than that and WES is still a miserable failure, but at least not as bad as it used to be.
One other funny thing I saw was under the bus ridership numbers:

- Weekly trips were up less than 0.1 percent at 1,077,200
TriMet can't even bring themselves to say that bus ridership increased, defiantly. I guess it must be too hard for them to admit the truth about MAX vs. Buses.

This just sounds to me like a desperate plea to get people to use the bike and ride so TriMet can turn around and say 'see? people use our bike and rides! Now give us more money so we can waste it on another one!'
