This is absolutely absurd

This TriMet driver was busted for getting out of the bus to take a drink of water.
The rider who reported the driver claimed that he was putting their family in danger by doing this.

Seriously?? Now TriMet wil go after this driver and accuse him of being 'unsafe' is my guess. That just makes me mad. This rider was probaby just being grouchy because they wanted to get where they wanted to get right then with no delay. Likely one of those big-headed passengers who think they are the center of the universe and bus drivers are just robots conspiring against them.
Give the driver a break! He was just trying to be safe and stave off dehydration and heat exaustion by drinking some water. How is that putting people in danger?
