Interesting correspondence between union members and union officials

EMAIL FROM DRIVER

Yesterday, two thermometers in Hillsboro read at 93 degrees.Like filthy buses, hot vehicles

which sit for 20 minutes at layovers, are a health risk.As a heart attack survivor, I was very uncomfortable for the last 5 hours of my shift as were my passengers.I even saw 2 dinosaurs working the 57 line even though there were many rows of 2900's ready to go at Merlo.

Remember the old bus line 27?

This is the old map of the route. The line was cancelled last September during the gouging service cuts. This bus line used to use the little 30 ft 1600s out of Center Garage.

TriMet Fail

This is what I found on the page for the Portland Streetcar schedules:

Holiday Schedule July 4

Portland Streetcar is running a Sunday schedule with added late-night trips on Monday, July 4, for the Independence Day Holiday.
Nice, TriMet. Keeping that up there until next July 4th, are ya?

Just one question...

Since when does WES work? Give it up, TriMet.

Or do you have the skills to be a senior estimator for TriMet?

A position is open now!
But does anybody have any idea what that person is supposedly supposed to do?

Wanna be a part-time operator for TriMet?

Apply now! The position closes on August 30th at 5:00pm.

TriMet Service Alerts! (as of 7/31/11 @12:30am)

Lots of current service alerts. These have only common service alerts like temporary stop closures right now.
The so called 'future service alerts' have a couple bus lines involved: lines 9-Powell/Broadway, 46-North Hillsboro, and 56-Scholls Ferry Rd. The only bus line that catches my eye is the 56 line:

**Effective Aug 14, 2011: Permanent route change. No service to stops at SW Scholls Ferry & Hall or to stops on SW Washington Square Rd. Now serving stops on SW Eliander at One Embassy Center and Stop ID 2295 on SW Hall at Scholls Ferry. **

Surprised me to see a permanent route change. Anybody have a clue as to why? (Sorry to you 56 riders that will be affected by this!)

Surprise!

Lots of fares increasing on September 1st and ANOTHER new type of fare that of which i bet will look identical to the dozens of other identical fares.

Some fares will increase

  • Adult All-Zone and 2-Zone single fares will increase 5 cents
  • Adult 1-Month Passes will increase $4
  • Youth/Student 1-Month Passes will increase $1
  • Adult 7-Day Passes will increase $1
  • Adult 14-Day Passes will increase $2
  • 1-Day Passes will increase 25 cents
Great, so now we'll have Adult fares at $2.40 for all zone and $2.10 for 2 zones. Plus, adult monthly passes will increase $4 to $92 for an all zone pass and $81 for 2 zone passes. Then, to make it better, Adult 7 day passes will be $24 or $21 and a 14 day pass will be $46.50 or $41. Youth don't escape this  fare increase; our monthly passes increase $1 to $27. And lastly, 1 day passes will increase to $5. Great, this sounds exciting. More money, crappy service. Maybe TriMet should make a new logo like that?

New 30-Day Pass available

In response to requests from riders, we're introducing a new pass that is valid for 30 days from the date of purchase. The 30-Day Pass gives you the convenience and savings of a monthly pass, and you can buy it at any time during the month. Starting September 1, you can get one at the TriMet Ticket Office at Pioneer Courthouse Square.
Boy, TriMet is great at making things confusing even after things were already insanely confusing in the first place, concerning fares. Seriously? 30 day passes? So, essentially monthly passes, but  not that. And notice they don't mention how much it will cost? I would presume that it will cost the same as a regular monthly pass for adult/ youth/ honored/ lift(if that even applies?)?

Youth/Student fare name change

We're re-naming "Youth/Student" fares to "Youth" to reduce confusion about who is eligible for these fares. (College students often assume that because they are students, they are eligible for Youth/Student fares.) Youth fares will continue to be available to youth ages 7-17 and students in high school or pursuing a GED.
Why didn't they just call it a 'youth' fare in the first place? Does TriMet really have to make things so ridiculously complicated, too?
