I can also rationalize a reluctance to pay not having a slightest input on TriMet expenditures. The continual expansion at taxpayer's expense causes much angst. Would the fare be as much if we had just the basic TriMet system without the expansion to the Columbia River, Milwaukee, etc?

Streetcars are slow in more ways than one

The strange and unnecessary Portland eastside streetcar project appears to be running into trouble. According to this report, Oregon Iron Works, which is making the cars, isn't getting the work done on time or under budget. So now the opening will be five months late, at least. You wonder whether Tri-Met will wait that long to start canceling the buses.

Many complain over a dirty table or restroom at a restaurant, and those who find the environment unsuitable may choose to go to a different eating establishment.
But, as far as public transportation goes, there is no other choice for Portlanders. Herein lies the issue—TriMet has recently reduced the amount of cleaning employees—thereby reducing the frequency the buses are thoroughly cleaned. The result is that buses are hotbeds for germs and viruses.
