Radon in Portland water more than doubles
Curiously gone from the new brochure is all mention of pharmaceuticals and personal care products, such as Advil and birth control drugs, which have been found in the system in the past. There's no mention of what current testing shows about those. Maybe they've stopped looking -- the city's website shows the last test for those substances as being in August 2009.

Decline in cases of ‘unfair labor practices’ leads to drop in notices of strike
“[The figures] suggest that unions won’t use strikes and strike notices in their dealings with management. They are increasingly unwilling to risk their jobs with the uncertain economic and work environment. The risk of replacement of regular workers by contractuals also weighs heavily,” he said.

Palin's bus is a road hazard
Well, that's just typical of Palin's bus: always going rogue, oblivious of its surroundings, and ready to mow down anyone in its way just to make a red light and avoid talking to reporters. By the way, you know she's not actually driving that thing right?

Thank god she ain't driving it--that'd be even worse!

MTA promises to stop violating civil liberties — again
For nearly as long as there has been motorized travel, there have been shutterbugs taking pictures of trains, planes, automobiles and the like. And surely no form of transportation is more romanticized — or attracts a more dedicated fan base — than rail travel.
Only on TriMet
The max operator of the train I am on just came on over the PA and announced that somewhere in the train there was a rat and if it was seen, to step away from it so it can get out.
I guess even rats want to ride in a train with AC to get out of the warm sun (warm for portland).
Another sighting of the Pink Thing!
Got a video of the pink thing stopped at pioneer square too. There's also a brochure. I will do my best to upload that sometime tonight.

Crowded trains, buses, and best of all! Delays!
Rose Festival Starlight Parade is tomorrow, June 4. Riders should expect crowded buses and trains downtown tomorrow night. There will be slight delays as trains move through the parade route and as buses navigate around the parade route.
