We all knew this was coming...
Another streetcar line!
The mayor of Milwaukie (who happens to work for Tri-Met) is pushing a plan to run a streetcar line from the Milwaukie light rail terminus through downtown Milwaukie and onto the Union Pacific tracks, which it would use to cross the Willamette River and head into the streetcar terminus in Lake Oswego.
The concept has a number of advantages, as there is no doubt that, come hell or high water, the Lake Oswego streetcar line will be built, whether they like it or not. When the Portland-Milwaukie loot rail train stops working, commuters will be able to hop onto the streetcar, then catch a ride into Portland from Lake Oswego. All in all, the trip shouldn't take more than an hour or so, one-way. Not bad for a seven-mile trip between Milwaukie and Portland.

Of course! With the MLR project soon to be underway, and the LO streetcar in process of being approved, naturally, this comes next. Isn't one train line enough?
No surprise that this guy works for TriMet either...
And this will definitely be more efficient than buses with the commute possibly taking up to an hour! Since we all know buses are 'unreliable' and get stuck in traffic--whether it be real or not.
But this is Amerika!

TriMet jeers study decrying light rail
A May 4 report by the Cascade Policy Institute says TriMet’s high-capacity alternatives, including MAX light rail, the Portland Streetcar and WES commuter rail, cannot move large numbers of people when needed.
Buses, which carry two-thirds of TriMet’s passengers, should be the focus of TriMet spending, but are being sacrificed in favor of light rail expansion, said Cascade President John A. Charles Jr., who conducted the research with several assistants.

“We carry more people than any other U.S. transit system its size..." Mary Fetsch said this...fact check?
