The Banana Peel of Destiny

For those of you interested in the reality side of things, here's the scoop:  The price of oil is going to go way up, and way down, and way up again, and way down again until everyone is too broke to ask for any, and companies are too ruined to go get it for them, and governments are too broken to interfere in the process.
Clusterfuck Nation

So, I was thinking about this yesterday...is the number of stops along a bus line taken into account when looking over ridership numbers--by stops, I mean bus stop signs, used or not. Because there are quite a few bus stops along the 51 line that are never used because TriMet has placed them so badly.
Boy, speaking of the 51, bus 1608 just passed me running on the 51 and that bus sounds terrible! Sounds like it could die at any minute. The engine sounds so rattily and grinding. Poor old 1600s...

Found this on a 51 stop (one of the two stops that actually has a TriMet shelter).  And it actually has the stop id inside of it! It's a miracle! None of the 51 stops outside of downtown have stop id's on them.

This is what TriMet needs for some of their bus lines that get a lot of bikes.

A front rack with three bike spaces and a back rack with two or three. It works for the Lewis and Clark bus, why couldn't it work for TriMet? (Or something similar at least.)

Why wouldn't it?

If the I-5 bridge "allow[s] state leaders to collect $1.25 billion in federal Columbia River Crossing funds", then of course the I-5 bridge choice will be approved... It's all about getting money into the pockets of the big officials and leaders.

The news nobody's reading

The world's attention span is short, and the mainstream news media have grown bored with the story of the nuclear disaster at Fukushima. But for those with an interest, lots of alarming news can be found from over there.
