I couldn't believe when i saw these articles. Wow.
The questions i have about this are mainly about what kind of new buses they will get. Will these buses be replacements for the oldest buses in the fleet? 1400s, 1600s (although 1700s, 1800s, and 1900s aren't far behind)? What type of buses will they be? Hybrids? Electric? Or just diesel buses again? Will we get new 30 ft buses or will these be 40 ft buses? The reality of the 30 ft buses is that they cost the same amount as 40ft buses and so it's quite unlikely TriMet will buy any more 30ft buses. I was told by one of my 51 drivers that TriMet had trained them to drive 40ft buses up around the 51 route and the tricky Council Crest turnaround.So many questions have yet to be answered....I just wish my 51 line would have service restored to how it was before last September's service cuts...
