Lawmakers hear testimony on bicycle signal bill backed by ODOT | Bike Portland
Lack of recognition in Oregon and federal law hasn't stopped PBOT from using bike signals. PBOT installed the city's first bike signal at N. Interstate and Oregon (just above the Eastbank Esplanade) way back in 2004. Bike signals are also in operation at E Burnside and 41st and more recently at Broadway and N. Williams.
Well then i would like to know how well the bike signal is actually working! Is it confusing motorists and cyclists? Do cyclists even acknowledge that they actually have to [gasp] wait at the signal? Determine how well the signal is working there, then decide whether to broaden the project.
In my eyes, the project seems pointless. You all know the majority of Portland cyclists' attitudes toward following the rules of the road and traffic signals--it is non-existent (except for a tiny portion of cyclists who actually do follow the law.)
Yes, cyclists are supposed to follow the law, just as cars are, meaning NO ignoring traffic signals. (So stop being so arrogant and big-headed).
I think this would just be a waste of money and energy. It's a pointless project. Cyclists can simply follow the traffic signals already in place. It would save a lot of money, energy and time. Period.
I'm sure that money can be put to much better use in other areas, like improving old roads that need to be re-paved, ect.

And now, do keep in mind this: I am a Portland cyclist, but I am one of the few good ones that actually follow the law.

See what the South Waterfront Greenway trail will look like

Argentina says a major breakthrough for the project came when TriMet'sPortland-Milwaukie Light Rail bridge project already planned to work in the water adjacent to the trail site as mitigation. "We have been working with TriMet so that our project can help theirs, and their mitigation funds can then support the Greenway."
TriMet is contributing $1 million toward the $8 million total project cost.
Seniors on TriMet
I've read so much lately of all the financial trouble TriMet is having, and how officials want to start checking senior citizens' IDs to prevent fraud. That really isn't necessary.
I ride the bus five days a week, and I always sit near the front. When the bus is running late, some drivers allow -- indeed, they encourage -- passengers to just hurry up and get on the bus without paying their fares or showing their passes. I have even seen drivers look away from boarding passengers so that he or she has no idea of who is paying or showing passes.
Collecting all the fares from riders would greatly increase TriMet's revenue. Just taking this action would make a big difference in how financially successful TriMet is. Then it wouldn't need to harass us honest, fare-paying senior citizens.

The Moral of the Story: Do not reach out to touch moving buses or trains. You could die.

So, please, Max riders stay behind the bumpy white strip. It's there for a reason. Bus riders? Well, you don't have a nice little helpful white bumpy strip at your bus stops...so just use common sense, eh? Thats not so hard, now is it?

The Earth Shifts
But it's not really up to us, no matter how many times Hillary Clinton says "uh," through her tightly pursed lips. And Barack Obama is kicking back like everybody else watching things beyond our control spin out on cable TV. Remember something else: these uproars in the Middle East are only the first stirrings of political reaction to a scarcity of key world resources, especially grain crops, which have never been in such short supply in modern times. And the part of this problem that isn't due to sheer population overshoot is almost certainly a result of climate change - which many idiots in the US congress refuse to acknowledge out of sheer obdurate stupidity.

Did you ever think that you lost your kid on a TriMet bus?
Well, this lady did. The story gets even better when she does remember where the kid really was.
