DON'T CANCEL LINE 84! It might not be a high ridership line, but there are still people who need it and use it!
TriMet route No. 84 Kelso/Boring is not quite empty | Oregon Live
DON'T CANCEL IT! People do use it and for some, it is their only way to get around. They need the bus line.
If TriMet could improve upon service on this bus line they could possibly get more ridership.
TriMet is neglecting its whole bus fleet as we all know, but for smaller lines like this one that have ridership, but not a whole lot and that are the only lines that run out to some area like this line is, it is even more important for the bus to run!
Some TriMet riders do not have any other way to get around except by TriMet services. If they live along a line like line 84 that doesn't have great service, they're...how do you put it?...screwed.
There is ridership.
Don't cancel it.
Use a 30' bus and adjust the times the bus runs into Boring.
How would you like it if your primary bus line was canceled and it was your ONLY mode of transportation? I know I would hate it, I fear my bus line, line 51 is in danger of being cut next time too, after all the service cuts and the truth of the line only running 'weekday rush hours', ridership has dwindled because people simply need MORE service on the line. Same case here, with line 84.
When I explained my project and how Boring businesses wanted to pull out of TriMet, Wells' shoulders shrank in and he seemed to panic.
"I need this line, I need this line. This line has to continue," he said.
Wells explained that about 10 years ago he sold his car after the hefty payments became too much to handle and his eyesight began to weaken. Since then, he's relied on friends and public transit to take him from his house to church activities at Living Word Fellowship Assembly of God.
As he hopped off the bus a few minutes later, he left me a message: "Without a lot of jobs available, a lot of people are going to need this line to continue, just like me." -Oregon Live
Please don't cancel the bus line. It's not the number of people riding the line, whether it be 100 per trip or 10, it is the people who actually ride the line that matter. Cutting a line that serves people who desperately need it like in the quote above, is just cruel.

These reports just keep getting harder and harder to read. I have nothing but great sympathy for Sandi Day. This was simply a tragic accident that shouldn't have happened, but now, we can't change anything that happened that late April night.
In the duration of this trial, no one seems to be paying attention to these facts that Al M from Rantings of a TriMet Bus Driver points out, here.
Another thing, Sandi Day is reported to have a spotless driving record before this accident.
