Fatal crash on SW Barbur last night - Updated
Bike Portland
"A 28 year old man is in jail this morning for his role in a crash that killed a woman who was walking her bicycle in the bike lane on SW Barbur Boulevard last night."
Okay, i've got one question about this--why would someone WALK their bike in a bike lane along a busy road? That seems more dangerous than biking in the bike lane. Although, the driver still shouldn't have veered into the bike lane in the first place, but, still, if the woman had been biking instead of walking her bike and paying attention, this may not have happened. She might've had enough reaction time to prevent the car from taking her life.
Oh well, what's done is done. Stuff happens and this was just a tragic example of that.
Life goes on...

Portland Transit is Slow
I just love these posts and stories about transit. You ride public transport enough and you wind up with some pretty entertaining stories in the end.

Pregnant TriMet driver begs off route tonight (Wednesday) with labor pains | Oregonian
and naturally, guess what question follows next? Yep, you guessed it:
"Newsflash: 'should pregnant women operate TriMet bus?'" (Rantings of a (trimet) Bus Driver Blog Held Hostage).
Well, I'd say yes and no. If they are far enough into the pregnancy, then no, because it could end up endangering people inside the bus if something went wrong. However, if the woman is feeling fine and not so far in their pregnancy, yes, they should be able to. After all, she is only doing her job and working for her family. I see no harm in that.
